Pm announced to adjust nearly 20,000 hectares divide to the people

Phnom Penh (MGO) – The head of the Royal Government ordered to adjust the nearly 20, 000 hectares of land in zones 2 and 3 of the Tonle Sap Lake, to divide for the people of more than 10,000 families to do farming.

The order to adjust and divide the land at the Tonle Sap Lake area is made through the special statement on Friday morning May 27 for the people who have lived in the villages on that land for a long time, with consideration to historical factors and people’s living conditions.

The Premier ordered the Minister of Land, Deputy Prime Minister Chea Sophara, and the provincial governors of districts and communes in those zones, to take responsibility and make a request on behalf of the people for the land to be kept as the zone in which they have known and submit it to the Royal Government for decision.

“This issue has been considered despite it is in zones 3 or 2 but we have to recognize that the area there was the people living before we set the framework as zone 1, 2, and 3.” Said the premier

The Tonle Sap Lake is divided into three zones. The first zone is the zone where people can live and can be registered, the second zone is the zone, between zone 1 and 3, which allows people to get benefits from the land through farming, and zone 3 is the flooded forest area with strictly protected land.

After the announcement, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also ordered the Minister of Land and relevant authorities in 6 provinces along the Tonle Sap Lake that currying this task to measure the land according to the decision of the Royal Government.

According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, the people are eligible to receive the land from the government unless they live and cultivate there for 10 years or more. Another hand the people that recently invasion of flooded forest land to be the ownership, the government will seize back and won't give back to them the land confiscated by the state from the encroachment, the provincial governor and all relevant authorities have to replant the trees.
