Phnom Penh (MGO) - The first Cambodian trout export to China has been postponed until July or even longer due to export technical issues while the company and farmers are negotiating the price. Currently, there is the only company obtaining the authorizing to export 25 to 30 tons of trout to China per month.
Mr. Thay Somony, the president of the Department of Aquaculture Development of Fisheries Administration said trout export to China will be slightly postponed due to technical issues and the price is still negotiating between the company and farmers. However, the company has pledged with the fisheries administration will export from 25 to 30 tons per month in the future.
"So far, the company that accepts to buy the trout hasn't set up the specific price with the farmer yet. The farmers have requested 5500 riels per kilogram, but the company said it is expensive. However, the fisheries administration has tried to facilitate to export from 20 to 30 tons." Somony explained
The President of the Department of Aquaculture Development of the Fisheries Administration has raised that trout export to China will provide many benefits to Cambodia farmers by increasing the marketing and income additional work for hydropower.
Trout export to China must be transited the quality and security monitoring. For the fish feeding must apply good aquaculture principles using non-toxic water sources and non-hormonal feeding, in particular, do not use the wrong treatment, including cleaning on the farm.
