Construction of National Road No. 10 connecting Samlot-Veal Veng-Osom to Koh Kong achieved 54.89%

Phnom Penh (MGO) - HE Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led a technical working group of relevant ministries to inspect the progress of the construction of National Road No.10 with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, representatives of the Ministry of Environment, representatives of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, governors of the Koh Kong Provincial Board of Governors, representatives of the Governor of Pursat provincial Board of Governors, representatives of construction companies, representatives of companies, technical advisors, professional officials, and stakeholders.

The construction of National Road No. 10 has a total length of 198.71 km, connecting Samlot-Veal Veng-Osom to Koh Kong, built by the level 3 technical standards of the People's Republic of China, with a total width of 9 meters, built 23 bridges with a length of 1721.46 meters, including the tallest bridge with a height of 75 meters, a length of 530 meters and a width of 10 meters, as well as equipped with traffic signs, traffic marking, light poles, and safety poles.


The construction of this road project was started on March 9, 2020, under the high presidency of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

As of the end of November 2021, the overall work progress reached 54.89%. This road project has selected a new route with a total length of 65.89 km to make a detour from Cardamom Mountain because don’t want to divide into two Cardamom Mountains, which will seriously affect the environment and wildlife sanctuary, which is a show of high attention of the Royal Government on environmental protection.


The road project is expected to cost a total of $ 188.38 million, financed by the Government of the People's Republic of China, together with the Royal Government of Cambodia's contribution to addressing the impact of demining, unexploded ordnance, and construction built by China Road Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the construction technical supervision by Guangzhou Wanan Technical Consulting Co., Ltd. is scheduled to take 48 months from December 2019 to December 2023.

It should be noted that National Road No. 10 is a potential artery of Cambodia's national economy, can facilitate communication, integration, interconnection within the country and with the region, contribute to improving the efficiency of trade and investment, agriculture, agro-industry, and tourism are fast and low cost, especially with neighboring countries.
